(LOCATION: Vero Beach FL) This 52'' Bruce Roberts S52 Custom Trawler is a beautiful long-range trawler. Inspired by designer Bruce Roberts-Goodson, this build is based on the Spray 52, a rugged oceangoing displacement trawler with a bottom based on solo circumnavigator Joshua Slocum''s sailboat Spray. Her steel hull with keel provides the durability and stability to take you anywhere.
The main deck has been equipped with a 3000 lb. hydraulic deck crane forward to load and unload provisions. A 3’ x 6’ hatch provides access to the engine room and is large enough to handle any chore. The open foredeck has a hydraulic windlass with anchor and chain. The Portuguese bridge has helm to starboard and crane controls to port. 42” railings surround the main deck with hydraulic boarding ramp. The enclosed aluminium pilothouse provides all-weather capabilities. A hard top over the aft deck provides shade and weather protection and covers an on-deck dining area with round table and propane grill.
The pilothouse includes helm station equipped with Raymarine wind, speed, and depth displays, West Marine VHF radio, and Ritchie compass. There is ample room for the electronics of your choice. Below, the salon is home to a full galley, L-shaped settee with dining table, Sony flat screen TV, Kenwood sound system, and laundry with washer and dryer. The galley has a four-burner range with two propane burners and two electrics burners, a Kenmore side-by-side refrigerator/freezer, a Magic Chef microwave oven, and solid surface counter top with stainless steel double sink. Large port holes with 1” glass provide natural light. There are two staterooms with private head compartments. There is a guest stateroom forward with V-berth and head with shower. The master stateroom has double berth, sitting area, and head with tub/shower. The interior is under construction and provides her new owner with the ability to personalize design choices.
Sun Chaser is powered by a John Deere 6-cylinder PowerTech diesel engine with only 110 hours. Unique keel coolers serve the engine and the Kubota 12.5-kW generator. Reverse cycle HVAC maintains interior comfort. Mechanical features include full hydraulics for deck crane, boarding ramp, rear winch, steering, bow thruster, and provisions for stabilizers. With a 3000 gallon fuel capacity and 450 gallons of fresh water this fifty-two foot trawler can spend extended time on the water. The construction of this vessel is designed as a workhorse/cruise ship.
