MONKEY TAILS is a highly customized version of the Tayana 48 Deck Salon Cruising sloop. Her owner had her built with numerous custom features executed by her builders plus a number of others that were completed after delivery. She is fitted out to be easily handled by a couple with all sails having furlers and sheets and halyards led back to the cockpit. Her interior arrangement is ideal for two couples and consists of forward and aft staterooms each with head and stall shower. Her teak and holly soles (there is custom fitted carpeting included) and beautifully varnish paneling provide a look of a custom quality warm interior. Her large deckhouse windows and numerous hatches and ports make the interior light and airy. The boat has been meticulously maintained throughout.
All Tayana offshore yachts are built by a trusted hand lamination process. The durable fiberglass hull uses PVC foam core construction. All areas of hull penetration (thru-hull fittings) are laminated with mat and roving to create a solid single skin. Isopthalic gelcoat and Ortho-phthalic resins are used in the first three laminates on all exterior fiberglass hull surface. The bottom is coated with Interprotect epoxy barrier and ablative antifouling paint. A matrix of longitudinal and transverse foam cored stringers in the hull create maximum hull stiffness.Internal ballast is glassed into a modified fin keel. We build a full Skeg mounted rudder, with internal stainless steel rudder stock and integral stainless steel reinforcements.The deck is a composite construction using end grain balsa wood coring. A Sugar Scoop transom with swim ladder makes boarding easy and convenient.Interior:Monkey Tails has custom high-end upholstery throughout with gloss varnished teak joinery and cabinetry.Teak and holly cabin sole with locking hatchesInlaid teak and holly chart and dinette table topsAccommodations: Forward there is a spacious 6 2 V berth for guests. The private cabin provides plenty of storage including extra large hanging lockers and drawers. There is a fold down work bench and cabinet on the port bulkhead. The guest head is large and enjoys a full 6 2 standup shower with a teak framed acrylic door. Custom marble blue-eye countertop and polished SS sink. Manual seawater head to holding tank The main saloon is spacious with a custom L-shaped dinette to port with a fold down teak and holly inlaid table. There is a wine storage area built into the table console. Two large and comfortable built-in seats to starboard with small table and private lighting were designed from custom yachts in Worlds Most Beautiful Yachts. Just aft to starboard is a custom designed forward facing navigators station with a comfortable, secure seat. Northstar chartplotter, SSB and VHF radios, and electric panel. There is a beautiful teak and holly inlaid opening nav-tabletop that will accommodate full size navigation charts. Walking aft to port is a linear galley leading to the owners stateroom. A wonderful custom made centerline bed and lockers in master cabin with built-in flatscreen tv, master head with separate 6 3 standup shower and custom fixtures. Marble countertops. Beautiful teak cabinetry throughout. Folding teak dinette table. Interior teak handrails Hatch and port screens Automatic lights in all lockers as well as courtesy floor lights throughout Custom Cantalupi 12-volt ceiling lights with dimmers There are beautiful Blue Pearl Granite counters in the master and guest heads.
Yanmar turbo 100 hp main engine was upgraded from std. 75 hp which together with Maxprop provides plenty of power for all conditions. Dual Racor filters and electric oil change system.
